Faith over…

But let him ask in faith without doubting.[a] For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord, being double-minded and unstable in all his ways.[b] (James 1:6-8 CSB)

Doubt can undermine our stability. It can make us feel like we are on an open sea, adrift and at the mercy of the wind and the waves. Additionally, it shows a lack of faith and proves that we are still needing to grow in our acceptance of God’s sovereign plan for our lives.

Look, I know this is hard to stand upon faith alone and not doubt that things will work out properly. We all face these fear inducing doubts. When we are unsure about a situation we may doubt and that doubt gives way to fear and maybe even to anger or depression. This is the enemy at work as he is the father of doubt and lies. He wants us unstable, double-minded and doubting ourselves and especially doubting God.

It is easy to suffer from doubts. But what we must realize is that doubts come come partial information and fears about outcomes we cannot guarantee. Man thinks he controls so much and if we were to see with God’s eyes we would find that this is such a fallacy. We are not masters of our fate, we are barely masters of the moment, and then only when we are clearly and completely present (which we typically are not).

Faith over fear. Faith over doubt. Faith in God and His design for our future. This is what removes doubt.
