Creating Meaning

10 Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Take the lead in honoring one another. 11 Do not lack diligence in zeal; be fervent in the Spirit;[a] serve the Lord. 12 Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer. 13 Share with the saints in their needs; pursue hospitality. (Romans 12:10-13 CSB)

People are always looking for meaning in life. They can spend their lives looking for “something more”. The problem is that while we are desperately seeking some grandiose meaning we are overlooking what truly creates a worthwhile life.

This short excerpt of scripture provides all we need to gain meaning in life. We do not have to go searching on some mountain to so something of significance today. So much of finding meaning comes from the simple act of what we do for one another. But when we spend our lives looking elsewhere for this we miss what really matters most. In many cases simply doing creates the meaning we are looking for.

This is how we gain a better understanding of how to live. Not searching for some elusive meaningful experience, but actually doing something meaningful for others. Go back and reread our scripture for today slowly and soak in each of the elements noted for both how we are to live and what gives true meaning to life.
