Planting and Watering

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. ( 1 Corinthians 3:6 CSB)

We have a great opportunity to plant seeds and water others, both for the Kingdom of God and just generally in life. There is no greater honor afforded to us than to help others grow, even if we are only planting and watering.

You see, it is most importantly one of our ministries, but too it is one of our greatest gifts to help others succeed in life. What greater living legacy can we leave than the growth of another? I say none. Our money and things all fade away over time. But what we have done to help others lives on far beyond us.

There are many stories of people great in faith who were introduced to it by the most unassuming people. But these were all people of great faith themselves who simply acted upon it, planting and watering diligently.

But as our scripture says, we must remember “God gave the growth.” It has been given to us the honor of spreading the seeds, and to others to water, but what does that mean?

Most often, I might be considered a seed spreader. I write these devotionals and published them daily but I rarely see the outcome of these words. My hope is that they are landing upon fertile ground. In this case it may be others who actually water that seed so that it takes root and then God gives the growth.

We can do the same for others in our personal and business lives. God gives us so many opportunities to seed and water, if we will but take the time to recognize others. If we are too busy to even recognize those who so desperately need our help, how can we expect to fulfill our mission?
