9 For this reason God highly exalted him
and gave him the name
that is above every name,
10 so that at the name of Jesus
every knee will bow—
in heaven and on earth
and under the earth—
11 and every tongue will confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11 CSB)
There will come a time where everyone, no matter their status or belief system, will confess that Jesus Chris is Lord. Everyone, on earth, in heaven and in hell. Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess.
This is where some, many, turn away. They say, ”that is your belief, not mine.” Well, yes it is, but it is my belief because it is scriptural and because I believe.
But what if I am wrong, I have been asked. Well, my question back is, what if I am right?
If I am wrong I have lost nothing. But if I am right I have gained everything.
This debate, this game we play is with our eternity. We take it too lightly. We hold out parts of ourselves. We make half-measures and we compromise. Even when God blesses us richly, we can be half-hearted in our response to his grace.
What do we hold out on? When it is all said and done will that part that we keep to ourselves have any merit in heaven? What will our lives truly look like in the light of the eternal?
An eternal mindset is what we must carry through this life.
