4 Then he said to them, “Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent. Mark 3:4 CSB)
When is a good time to do good?
You see, any time is a good time for good. I think this is pretty much universally recognized. There, actually, is no time like the present.
But in our scripture the Jewish leaders had decreed that any work on the sabbath was against their laws. Even that of healing another.
We may say, ”but this was another time and we know better.” But I would question that.
Too often we withhold the good we could do more often than not because we are busy. We are just too wrapped up in our own little lives to see or do that which is needed and right in front of us. In fact, we tend to simply look the other way.
We don’t make time for good. So in many ways we diminish the world not by doing evil but by withholding good.
