Convicted not Condemned

10 When Jesus stood up, he said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

11 “No one, Lord,”[a] she answered.

“Neither do I condemn you,” said Jesus. “Go, and from now on do not sin anymore.” (John 8:10-11 CSB)

Looking at others lives from the outside in can create an air of superiority. We see what might be the train wreck of a life and condemn others without knowing the circumstances. We look upon others through the lens of our own life experience which can be very limiting.

Christ came to convict not condemn. The scripture seeks too to convict and not condemn. We can look upon our God and know He wishes nothing more than our salvation.

Thus, should we not also look upon others with compassion seeking not to condemn but to lift them up? Each day brings us opportunity to look upon and treat others with respect no matter their situation. To extend a hand in brotherhood and help them along their way. To be a light unto their path.

When we seek first to treat others as God would treat us we see the humanity in every human.
