6 Don’t give what is holy to dogs or toss your pearls before pigs, or they will trample them under their feet, turn, and tear you to pieces. (Matthew 7:6 CSB)
Some messages held within scripture can be very difficult to understand and correctly apply. Thus, we can find ourselves trying to avoid them for fear of not interpreting them correctly or doing the right thing. There is value in deep study of these scriptures to mine the wisdom within.
It may seem that today’s scripture is telling us to avoid ungodly people. But how do we reconcile this with the Great Commission to bring the word of God to all corners of the world?
Much like many scriptures, what today’s is teaching us is that we must be shrewd in our dealings with others. We must plant the seeds and allow God to water and grow the message.
It can be hard to walk away from those who will not see the value of a message of wisdom. Be that in matters of faith, family or business. We can only accept our role as planters many times and watch to see what God might do.
We too must be shrewd and mature in how we convey the message. Understanding the culture or social setting others we approach live within. We must take contextual clues least our message, God’s message, becomes diluted.
We should have no fear in sharing our faith. But, at times, we may have to be willing to walk away if the Spirit does not take hold.
