17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[a] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. (Ephesians 1:17 NIV)

There are many ways we gain wisdom. But the Spirit provides revelation through the Word so that we may know God better. Without the Spirit with we can gain only a topical knowlege of scripture.

With the Spirit, scripture is revealed as we mature and grow. This “revelation” provides a deeper understanding of God, our spiritual nature and conveys practical wisdom.
