29 For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me. (Colossians 1:29)

Our work and our striving to do well, get ahead, typically comes from a desire for more. Be that survival, ambition or just a desire to be more than we currently are, we want to move forward.

When the Spirit works within us, and it is what we focus our striving upon; it is then that our outcomes align with God’s plan for our lives.

Apart from this we are only striving for what is temporal. Our spiritual lives are not improved or enhanced when we only try to meet our desires. But when aligned with God’s plans, regardless of the outcome, we work for a greater good.
