12 The man replied, “The woman you gave to be with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate.”
13 So the Lord God asked the woman, “What have you done?”
And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” (Genesis 3:12-13 CSB)
If this piece of scripture were not so serious it would almost be comical. It’s like catching two children in a wrong and then them blaming it on the dog.
I have done my fair share of this both with parents and with the Heavenly Father.
We want to pass-the-buck, shed the blame, but inside we know…the sin is upon us and no one else.
Since growing up and taking on leadership roles I have made a point of taking on the responsibility of my entire team. I make the calls, the buck stops with me.
This has shown that I am a very trustworthy person, but it also has meant that I bore the brunt. That is fine, that is the role I feel I took on when I became a leader.
I believe we have to be leaders not just when we are given the task, but in life in general. We need to be capable of owning up.
Life is about owning your choices.
