Captive

See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces[a] of this world rather than on Christ. (Colossians 2:8 NIV)

To become captive or captivated by fine speech or those who would lead us down the path of worldly things. This is the beginning of losing our footing on the path. Deceptive philosophies abound. It is when we truly study the wisdom of the scriptures that we see the sound teaching within.

We must keep our eyes fixed while the world works to lead us astray.
