36 As it is written:

Because of you
we are being put to death all day long;
we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered.[a]
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (Romans 8:36-37 CSB)

This scripture can seem confusing; are we sheep or are we conquerors?

Yes!

There is a gentleness to sheep that God wants us to remember. Additionally, while we live in a time of great freedom, there will come another time where we may be lead to slaughter much like the early Christians. Meaning that we may be called on to defend our faith with our lives.

Yet, through even such a time as this we are also conquerors as even in the act of giving up our lives here, we gain all of heaven.

Thus, this does not mean we have to go quietly, but must proclaim our beliefs to the end
