Drained

4 For day and night your hand was heavy on me;
my strength was drained[a]
as in the summer’s heat.Selah
5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you
and did not conceal my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
and you forgave the guilt of my sin. (Psalm 32:4-5 CSB)

At times we can feel simply drained and weighed down. Some of this, hopefully most, should be from an honest day’s labor. But sometimes it is from the weight of our thoughts and possibly the weight of our unrepented sin.

We may try to hold some aspect of our lives apart from God. Something that we do not want to readily give up from our old life when we come to faith. Or it may be some sin that has weeded its way into our lives through bad habits.

Regardless, if we will but take the guilt of these sins to God, truly repent and change our ways the weight will be lifted.
