9 “You expected much, but then it amounted to little. When you brought the harvest to your house, I ruined[a] it. Why?” This is the declaration of the Lord of Armies. “Because my house still lies in ruins, while each of you is busy with his own house. (Haggai 1:9 CSB)
I have written often on how much life can throw at us. However, the other aspect of this is that we tend to focus fully upon that which we hold most dear; ourselves.
There is nothing wrong with being diligent about ourselves, our families and our households. In fact our first place of ministry is to our families.
But are we leaving the Lord’s house desolate while we tend to ourselves? What does this mean?
Are we so focused on ourselves that we forget the plan God has for us. A plan that helps build His house; a Kingdom plan. Do we do everything we do for His honor so that that house is built? I cannot say that I do. I want to keep my focus fully upon Christ but life makes that difficult and I must continually refocus myself.
But God is the God of time and resources. The more we give to him, the more he pours out on us. It is not whether we have time for God, but whether we have time without God!
