4 I have glorified you on the earth by completing the work you gave me to do. (John 17:4 CSB)

Today I am up very early. I have work to do that requires a few additional hours to complete and it is work I cannot put off.

We are given work in our daily lives that have deadlines. Work that requires putting in extra effort to accomplish quickly and correctly. At times we can plan such work out so that we work it into our daily schedule. Other times we must sacrifice time to complete it on time.

God gave each of us work to do outside our profession. He gave us each a vocation which we are to complete for him while we are on this earth.

We must work toward both goals. Completing our occupational expectations and also spend time working out our vocational calling. Both mean putting in the time!
