Internal Fortitude

20 Now to him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us…  (Ephesians 3:20 CSB)

My father was big on internal fortitude. He viewed this as the measure of a man. That innate abilit to get a job done. He valued it as one of the keys to living a productive life.

I have to agree with him. Without an internal grit to get things done we can easily get overwhelmed. So we must foster an internal fortitude to stand strong and work hard. Many things about our nature are driven from the grit of what we are made of.

Luckily, we do not have to do this alone. Within us there lives a Spirit. Beside our own, God sent his Spirit to provide us guidance and the fortitude to live beyond ourselves, beyond our own capacity to get it done.
