25 Can any of you add one moment to his life span[a] by worrying? (Luke 12:25 CSB)
Look, all of us worry. And worry can take on a life of its own. Worry creates its own narrative and then anxiety kicks in and compounds the story into an epic novel of hardship.
The question becomes how much you give into your worry. It truly can be the novel I noted above or it can simply be a niggling and nagging doubt that will not leave you alone.
All of our preparation cannot account for every scenario. None of us expected to be where we are right this moment. But take the next moment and consider this – we are given the moment we live in. We are not guaranteed anything more. We cannot add one moment to our lives by worrying.
This is not to say we do not plan. But we too can get hung up in the planning and then when plans do not work out we can get hung up with regret and remorse.
We have one moment. This moment. And we have a choice on how we live it. Think about all the moments you gave up to worry and how they effected this moment.
One moment – how will you live it?
