Dull

10 If the ax is dull
and its edge unsharpened,
more strength is needed,
but skill will bring success. (Ecclesiastes 10:10 NIV)

Each day we pick up our tools to wield to meet the day’s challenges. No matter whether you go to school, work as a knowledge worker or actually work with tools. And anyone who has ever worked with an ax will tell you that the work goes faster if you first make sure it is sharp. Skill can overcome a dull tool, but the effort is always greater.

Each day we must hone our tools so that they are prepared (sharpened) for the day’s challenges. This, or we must work harder with greater skill to wield a dull tool.

Thus, taking time out to hone our tools is imperative, gaining knowledge and skill to meet the challenges of each day.
