Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13-14 NIV)
It is well established that we must have goals in this life. Something to press forward toward, working to achieve, so that we might continually move ahead.
When we do not have goals life becomes random and aimless. Life lives us, we do not live life. We feel adrift and continually battered about by the winds of chance.
To strive for a goal is to give order to life.
